Medicare and Medicaid deals
In today’s world, a large part of the population is suffering from a lot of diseases. Hospital visits are getting costlier by the day with increase in specialised health care. This can be attributed to the growing consultation fees as well as the steadily increasing medicine cost. Apart from this, there is also the nursing charges which have to be taken into consideration. Since the medical cost is not affordable to all, the government has 2 programs – Medicare and Medicaid to help those in need.
Medicare is a health insurance programme for the elderly – people aged 65 or more. Original Medicare consists of Medicare A and Medicare b which covers 80 percent of the approved medical cost. Medicare Part A is free for most recipients. It helps pay for inpatient hospital care, nursing after a hospital stay, hospice care, and some home healthcare. Part B is optional and requires a monthly premium. It helps pay for doctor’s services, outpatient hospital care along with some other necessary services.
Medicaid also covers the same services as Medicare. But it is a government assistance program for people who require financial help and age is not a matter for availing Medicaid. To avail Medicaid facility, you have to have a strict upper limit on you income as well as your assets. These limits vary from state to state but nonetheless they are in the same range.
